RandomCon started last year in Ahwatukee Foothills to give Valley gamers an alternative to the defunct Phoenix ConGames and Hexacon events. This year the event is back July 8-11, but now it’s in east Mesa at the Windemere Hotel and Conference Center on Main Street west of Recker Road.
Guest of honor is Ken St. Andre, the creator of the RPG Tunnels & Trolls. He’ll be hosting a special charity event on the convention’s Saturday night, running a special T&T adventure with proceeds going to Children’s First Academy.
There will also be Living Forgotten Realms adventures for Dungeons & Dragons players in the RPGA, and other RPGs such as the Amber Diceless system, LARP (live-action roleplaying), card games like Magic: The Gathering, board games, video games and an open gaming area where you can bring your own game and start up a session.
Pre-registration has ended, so admission is $25 at the door — for three days of gaming events! Volunteers and game coordinators, however, can get in for $10.
