A ginormous crowd was out again for Friday’s Phoenix Comicon 2016, and the festivities were more fun than “swimmin’ with bowlegged wimmin’,” as ASU Film, Filmbar, and PHXCC brought Jaws scribe Carl Gottlieb to the pop culture convention.
In Phoenix, Arizona, we’re far from the beach (not counting Big Surf, of course), but not even the comfort of an air-conditioned PHXCC meeting room was safe from sharks on Friday.
In addition to Jaws screenwriter, Carl Gottlieb, the panelists included Joe Fortunato (ASU fIlm professor), Miles Orchinik (neurobiologist), and Amanda Mozilo, a marine biologist who puts Matt Hopper to shame (and is so much easier on the eyes.)
The Friday panel, “You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat: The Science of Jaws with Screenwriter Carl Gottlieb,” was one of the best I’ve ever attended. Stay tuned for a full length article about Friday’s Jaws themed events, but in the meantime enjoy our photos from Friday’s festivities.
