A new line of Doctor Who collectibles including action figures, bobbleheads and glassware will debut at the New York Toy Fair in February and reach consumers starting this summer.
Big Bang Pow, based in North Hollywood and responsible for collectibles for shows such as Dexter, Lost and The Venture Bros., has a license from BBC Worldwide to market new toys and collectibles from all eras of the long-running British sci-fi drama.
Action figures will stand 8 inches tall and include episode-specific fabric clothing, resembling the popular Mego action figures of the 1970s and ’80s.
“The Denys Fisher range of 9-inch action figures from the 1970s was never released in the United States, and has become one of the most highly sought after toy lines of the past 40 years,” said Jason Lenzi, CEO of Bif Bang Pow, in a news release.
In addition to bobbleheads (a Doctor Who first) and articulated retro action figures and playsets, this summer will see the release of Doctor Who license plate frames, coasters, magnets and journals — here’s hoping the TARDIS journal of Professor River Song is among them!
“Doctor Who bobbleheads have never been made for any market, so we have the opportunity to offer these highly desired products to a whole new fan-base that never had the chance to purchase them before,” Lenzi said in the statement.
