Local sci-fi satire Voyage Trekkers gets its own Phoenix Zoo ride

Classic Dungeons & Dragons back in print! - Available now @ Dungeon Masters Guild

I knew Voyage Trekkers was popular, but I thought it would take a little longer for the lovable “worst crew in the galaxy” to get its own theme park attraction.

Yes, the Valley’s own Star Trek spoof is going to be a train ride at The Phoenix Zoo’s annual nighttime Halloween Event, Howl-O-Ween.

“Rescue on Danger Planet” is a 10-15 minute adventure featuring lizard men, space barbarians and an evil mastermind. Capt. Sunstrike’s crew has gone missing while exploring Danger Planet — and you’re the rescue team!

Howl-O-Ween takes place 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27. Tickets cost $6 for zoo members and $8 for nonmembers. Attractions vary in “Scare Level,” and “Rescue on Danger Planet” falls about in the middle.

You can watch the first season of Voyage Trekkers online at www.voyagetrekkers.com; Season 2 is in production, and the team needs your help to complete the starship’s iconic bridge. Message them via the show’s official Facebook page for more information.

A web series, original novella, fan fiction contest, “Choose Your Own Adventure” videos and radio plays, and now a live Halloween attraction … that’s quite a warp-speed journey!
