LepreCon 44 may have missed a March/St. Patrick’s Day weekend window this year, but the long-running sci-fi convention is still taking place.

The new dates are June 22-24 and the venue is the Doubletree by Hilton at Metrocenter in north Phoenix.

Guests of honor at LepreCon 44 will include Guests of Honor include Lubov (artist), Maxwell Alexander Drake (writer), Eric Wile (gaming) and Jon Santaana Proudstar (local).

LepreCon Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that promotes science fiction and fantasy fandom, mainly with the annual convention of the same name that has run since 1975 and often focusing on the creative works of artists and authors.

The original plans for LepreCon 44 involved a Phoenix Science Fiction and Fantasy Art Expo in March, which was ultimately scrubbed late last year.

Looking beyond LepreCon 44 to LepreCon 45

According to my sources, LepreCon 45 in 2019 is aiming for an Easter weekend slot that would put it on the weekend of April 19-21; LepreCon 38 in 2012 was the last iteration to conflict with that holiday.

Check out our updated Arizona conventions page to see where this fits into the Phoenix-area fandom schedule, and our full calendar of events for more great and geeky happenings.
