International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival

The International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival next year will change dates and venue to become part of the Phoenix Film Festival.

“We are thrilled that the Festival will now be featured as part of the Phoenix Film Festival.  I believe it opens the IHSFF up to a whole new audience and lends itself for great opportunities,” said festival director Andrea Beesley-Brown in a statement released Monday.

The Phoenix Film Festival and The International Horror and Sci-fi Film Festival will take place from March 31, 2011, through April 7, 2011, at the Harkins Scottsdale 101 Theater. It was formerly held in October at Tempe’s MADCAP Theaters (pictured).

Horror & Sci-Fi festival screenings will now be part of what the press release calls “alternative programming” over six days of the Phoenix Film Festival.

Is this a good move, horror and sci-fi fans — or more short shrift for genre films? Discuss!
