‘Impossible Astronaut’ lands on BBC America

Doctor Who Series 6It’s been a sad week for Doctor Who fans, with the passing of longtime co-star Elisabeth Sladen as the week opened– and that coming so soon after the death of Nicholas Courtney, who played the unforgettable Brigadier alongside her plucky journalist Sarah Jane Smith.

It’s definitely cast a pall on the debut today of a new series of the long-running British sci-fi show — an event awaited by fans with more anticipation than that other English thing happening this week, the royal wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton.

But it’s a big occasion, and hopefully BBC America will take part in the tribute to Sladen that its across-the-pond counterpart has planned for “The Impossible Astronaut,” the sixth series premiere of Doctor Who. Now excuse me while I prepare the Easter egg dyes as I watch BBC America’s marathon of Series 5… and enjoy another peek at the Series 6 trailer below.
