Harry Potter and the Muggle Movie Marathon

Events, Movies, Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Harry Potter fansHarkins Theatres have conjured up a magical way to mark the end of the Harry Potter film saga. Leading up to the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on July 14, all seven previous film installments will be shown starting July 11 at Tempe Marketplace — two per day, up to and including the grand finale.

They’ve got a pretty good deal, too: $40 will get you into all eight movies, with early entry to the Cine Capri auditorium for Deathly Hallows Part 2, as well as two small popcorns, a 2011 loyalty copy good for $1 soda refills all year and four free refills during Harry Potter week, and a commemorative lanyard and Harry Potter swag bag.

If you muggles can’t devote a week to the wizarding world, $18 will get you into Deathly Hallows Part 1 on Thursday night at various Harkins locations, followed by the midnight showing of its sequel.

Many fans will be showing up in costume for lineups at theaters across the Valley, and Harkins locations are no exception. The Tempe Marketplace theater, though, claims to be hosting “Arizona’s ultimate Harry Potter lineup party,” 10 a.m. to midnight July 14, with free loyalty cups going to the first 100 people in line, and all in attendance eligible for prizes and random drawings.
