East Valley art events abound this weekend

On Fridays, I usually post a collection of webcomics from Amazing Arizona Comics Online, but this week I’ve been preparing for a duo of art events in the East Valley, happening this weekend.  If you dig the arts, there’s plenty to do this Saturday and Sunday.

This Saturday is the Southwest Maker Fest along Main Street in downtown Mesa.  The event is completely free and runs from noon to 8 p.m.  Artists of all types will exhibit their work, including local poets Neil and Heather Gearns, and comic artist JP Manzanares.  Check out the Fest’s Facebook page for more information.

Then, on Sunday, the Phoenix Film Festival is hosting its annual Geek Day, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harkins Theaters off the 101 and Scottsdale Road.  Read an article about Geek Day in this week’s GetOut section of the East Valley Tribune, posted online right here for your convenience!

Here’s a promo for Amazing Arizona Comics at these events this weekend; find my table, mention Nerdvana, and get a free mini-comic!
