The devious Dr. Diabolic was last seen at our NerdvanaCon event in downtown Mesa last August. Since then, the Doctor has been busy developing new and nefarious methods to drive cult-movie lovers insane.
The latest Dr. Diabolic Show will be live at the FilmBar in Phoenix on September 21 at 10:30 p.m. and will feature a screening of the 1973 psychiatric thriller classic, Don’t Look in the Basement, the story of a young psychiatric nurse who goes to work at a creepy asylum. There, she experiences varying degrees of torment from the patients, but is she really who she claims to be?
The show will include fun contests for attendees, like a ‘Baby-Crazy-Relay’ contest where contestants compete for prizes by changing and swaddling their baby dolls in the quickest fashion. It’s all in keeping with the feature film’s theme in which a manic ‘mother’ tends to a baby doll that she believes is real.
The not-so-good Doctor will also be revealing his new co-host during this Friday’s show. It seems his usual unusual assistant, Nurse Narcotica, has fallen victim to one of the Doctor’s experiments gone awry and it will be very interesting to see who has the “guts” to take Narcotica’s place.
Tickets to the show are $10 and are available online or at the Filmbar venue. The event is open to those 21 and over and is presented by Bookmans Entertainment Exchange. Also, don’t miss the upcoming Dr. Diabolic online episode featuring the 1962 film, The Brain that Wouldn’t Die.
