CoKoCon has been announced for Labor Day weekend.
The event, billed as a traditional science fiction convention, unites CopperCon and ConKopelli, sponsored by the Central Arizona Speculative Fiction Society (CASFS) and Western Science Fiction Association (WesternSFA).

There will be guests of honor — the first of which is Nebula-nominated Arizona author Beth Cato — as well as an art show, merchant room, gaming, filk and parties.
Cato, a California native, is the author of the Clockwork Dagger duology and the Blood of Earth trilogy, as well as the new novel Call of Fire.
CoKoCon is being organized by the key players behind Westercon 70, sponsored by LepreCon Inc., last year in Tempe. Co-chairs are Hal Astell and Mark Boniece and vice chair is Dee Astell.
CoKoCon will be Aug. 31 to Sept. 3 at the Doubletree by Hilton Phoenix North, 10220 N. Metro Parkway East.
Adult memberships are currently $40 (but door prices will be higher), with half-price admission for children ages 7-12; children 6 and younger are free with an adult member, limit two. A convention block of rooms will be made available soon, organizers said.
While CoKoCon celebrates sci-fi months from now, you don’t have to wait until Labor Day to check out the Nerdvana calendar and convention list to find more Arizona fandom events.
