Disney announced that Capt. Jack Sparrow will return in 2011 in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The news comes out of the inaugural D23 Expo in Anaheim, where Johnny Depp was there in person on a giant pirate ship — and our guest correspondent CactusCarl is dealing with strict mobile device restrictions.
Other big news: a new horror label called Disney Double Dare You, which will launch with Guillermo del Toro’s The Troll Hunters; John Carter of Mars will be a franchise, not just a single film; a new Muppet movie: The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made; National Treasure 3 with Nicolas Cage; and a 3-D, motion-capture remake of The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine.
Keep checking back to get the latest inside info from D23 in the feed on the right!

Hm, sequel, new, adaptation, sequel, sequel, remake. One new movie idea in the bunch . And they say originality is dead in Hollywood.
Though I must admit I’m not surprised to see del Toro have the only original idea out of the lot.
