Hot off the press, Marvel launched its summer blockbuster Secret Invasion yesterday with an epic, jaw-dropping first issue. The eight-part series written by Brian Michael Bendis with art from Leinil Francis Yu has been building momentum for nearly five years with teases and loose ends started in Avengers Disassembled, Secret War, House of M and last summer’s Civil War. All of those stories changed the Marvel Universe dramatically and now that the shape-shifting alien race known as Skrulls have invaded every super-powered organization on Earth (posing as many of Marvel’s heroes), Secret Invasion should deliver a one-two punch we will never forget.
