No shocker here, but it’s definitely worth noting: Todd McFarlane is once again coming to Phoenix Comicon, Memorial Day weekend at the Phoenix Convention Center and Hyatt Regency. He joins an expansive list of guests including Stan Lee, Ray Park, LeVar Burton, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day.
McFarlane became a comic book superstar in the 1980s due to his work on Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man franchise. In 1992, he launched Spawn, which became one of the 1990s’ most popular characters: the comic became an Emmy Award-winning animated series on HBO and a live-action feature film from New Line Cinema grossed $100 million.
In 1994, McFarlane introduced McFarlane Toys, an international award-winning company and one of America’s top action figure manufacturers now based in Phoenix. In 2001, his reshaped the sports collectibles market with the introduction of McFarlane’s Sports Picks NFL, NHL, NBA and MLB action figure lines.
