One of the highlights of Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn novel relaunch was seeing the Chiss’ first supposed* encounter with the Galactic Empire he would ultimately come to serve as a Grand Admiral. Marvel’s upcoming adaptation of that novel will bring this to life in a way not seen since he was incorporated into the final two seasons of Star Wars Rebels.

The Thrawn comic adaptation is also a great precursor to Zahn’s next Star Wars novel, Thrawn: Alliances. Coming in summer 2018, it will pair the blue-skinned tactical genius with a certain Dark Lord of the Sith.

Thrawn #1 will be released Feb. 7, 2018. StarWars.com has posted a sneak preview of the issue you should go and check out if you enjoyed this spring’s novel it was based on.
