Classic pulp characters, Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle and Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, will meet for the very first time in an upcoming crossover comic-book event by Dynamite Entertainment, who has recently acquired the rights to publish new original content for the jungle heroine, as well as reprints of her classic adventures.

Sheena, Queen of the JungleWith Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan having teamed-up with both Batman and Superman, and even going up against the Predator of film fame, it’s hard to believe that, until now, the Ape-Man has never before crossed paths with comics’ preeminent jungle goddess. (Maybe Jane has had something to do with this…?)

Created by the legendary Will Eisner and Jerry Iger in 1937, there is no doubt that Burroughs’ Tarzan was the inspiration behind Sheena, who was raised as an orphan in the jungle and has the ability to communicate with animals.

While Wonder Woman gets the lion’s share of female comic-book heroine glory, Sheena actually had her own dedicated comic series four-years before Diana Prince ever saw a newsstand – and unlike Wonder Woman, Sheena can actually talk to lions.

While there is not currently a release date for the Tarzan/Sheena project, keep your eye on Diamond Comic Distributors’ Previews catalog and start hitting up your local comic store to advance order your copies of Sheena’s upcoming Dynamite comics and graphic novels.
