Who needs another violent film adaptation of a violent comic book?
If it involves classically trained actress Helen Mirren wielding automatic weapons, I’m so there.
A new trailer for the Summit Entertainment flick RED, based on the title from DC Comics’ Homage imprint, premiered today at something called “Comic-Con” in San Diego. The movie stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich as former top CIA agents who suddenly become liabilities — and targets for assassination. They take the fight back to their old bosses and break into CIA headquarters to uncover a massive government conspiracy. Along the way, they shoot up a lot of stuff.
RED also stars Mary-Louise Parker, Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Cox, James Remar, Rebecca Pidgeon, Michelle Nolden and Karl Urban. It is directed by Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler’s Wife) and opens Oct. 15.
