Variety is reporting that Ryan Reynolds has been cast in the title role of Warner Bros.’ Green Lantern comic book adaptation. He apparently beat out Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto and Justin Timberlake to play ring-slinger Hal Jordan in the film by Casino Royale director Martin Campbell. Production will start in January for a planned December 2010 release.

Reynolds recently came to Tempe Marketplace for the world premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in which he played fan favorite Deadpool. He is expected to star in a spinoff featuring the character.

  1. I think this is awesome! Though I don’t know much about Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds is a solid actor and I think he would be great for the part. GL is a really cool character and Ryan has proven himself to be a versatile actor with the soul of a fanboy.
