For the second September in a row, downtown Mesa’s Second Friday block party will have a distinctly pulpy flavor. That’s because ENCREDICON is back — Evermore Nevermore’s Comic Review of Enlightened Drawing & Inscribing Convention — to let you rub elbows with Arizona’s independent comic book creators.

Russ Kazmierczak, who’s become quite the media darling this summer with his Amazing Arizona Comics turning heads at San Diego Comic-Con, will of course be there, as will other creative types like Oddity Commodity, David T Saint Albans, Shelby Robertson, Scott Shehi, Nathan Schultǝ, Alex Kozak, Russ Kazmierczak, Heather Martin, Jean-Paul Manzanares, Jon Garza, Greg Ham, Stephen Failla, Marco Turrubiartes, Vanessa Allen and Martha Palacios.

Another highlight is bound to be a sci-fi and fantasy fashion show with outrageous original costumes and, in true comic book style, “character origins” at the nearby OneOhOne Gallery. The downtown organization also will present a classic car show, live music, an art walk, a 9/11 tribute and firefighting equipment exhibits. It all goes down on Main Street between Country Club Drive and Center.
