Adventure Comics #285

Spring Training baseball went into full swing this week; which is always a fun time here in the “Valley of the Sun.” Also this week, our Representatives and Senators in Washington D.C. stood idly by while the catastrophic “sequestration” spending cuts, the ones they’ve been warning us would happen if they didn’t do anything, went into effect – proving that our federal government is truly run by idiots.

Hrrrmmm … How could we possibly tie these two seemingly unrelated events together into a timely edition of the Classic Comic Cover Corner? Easy.  Adventure Comics #285 depicts Superboy up at bat in the Bizarro world of Supermen (Htrae); the “mad planet” where everything is backwards and even if you win – you lose. Sound familiar? Appropriately, this cover also has an upside-down American flag flying in the background, the official signal of our country in distress. Where is Superman when you need him?
