Warner Bros. on Thursday announced the casting of Academy Award-winning director Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the sequel to Man of Steel, which will also feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Laurence Fisburne as Perry White. The untitled film is set for a July 17, 2015, release.
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman,” director Zac Snyder said in a statement. “He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne.”
It was back at Comic-Con in San Diego last month that we learned the two superheroes will cross paths in the Super-sequel.
Warner Bros.’ statement says Affleck and Snyder “will create an entirely new incarnation of the character … bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in Man of Steel.”
This is sure to create ripples — or shockwaves — across fandom. What do you think of the casting choice — inspired, or WFT?
