Two of my greatest passions, Batman and anime, join forces on July 8 with the release of Batman: Gotham Knight on DVD and Blu-ray. The six-part anthology, featuring the voice of big-screen Batman (Christian Bale), are stand-alone stories, but they also bridge the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and will feature several villains, including the Scarecrow, Killer Croc and Deadshot. Several big-name writers are contributing to the project, including Batman comic writers Brian Azzarello and Greg Rucka, A History of Violence film writer Josh Olson, Batman Begins writer David S. Goyer, The Dark Knight producer Jordan Goldberg, and Batman: The Animated Series writer Alan Burnett. And bringing it all together as director is Bruce Timm, the acclaimed creator and producer of many of the animated DC Universe projects since 1992.
