Amazing Arizona Comic Con returning to Mesa in 2012

Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis eBooks - Available Now @ DriveThruFiction.com

Mesa Convention CenterOrganizers of Amazing Arizona Comic Con have announced that the event will return, as planned, to the Mesa Convention Center early next year.

The second annual convention will take place Jan. 6-8, adding a Friday preview night that the inaugural event lacked.

Perhaps next year’s event won’t be shoved into a weekend that also includes a high-profile H.P. Lovecraft convention and anime festival?

  • Convention organizers booked and announced the very first AMAZING ARIZONA COMIC CON last January, which was the first domino tipped on that very popular genre convention weekend. We would hope to work with other Convention organizations so potential audiences aren’t divided for future events.

I don’t know if the crowded weekend necessarily affected the 2011 AMAZING ARIZONA COMIC CON as in our first year with we matched the largest attendance ever at a comic event at the Mesa Convention Center. And it has been noted the Amazing Arizona Comic Con 2011 was a 2 day convention vs 3 and 4 day events which were held in previous years.

We expect the 2012 AMAZING ARIZONA COMIC CON to be a great event as we expand to 3 days.

We hope to see you in Mesa January 6th, 7th, and 8th for the very first Comic Con of 2012!

  • Jimmy – “Shoved” may have been a poor choice of words. I wasn’t trying to imply that your convention bore the sole responsibility for the crowded weekend calendar. It just shows what an active fandom community we have here in the Valley!
