The Mouse has turned against the mighty Aslan! Disney announced today it will not be involved in the production or financing of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Dawn Treader, the third film set in C.S. Lewis’ Narnia franchise, may still set sail — it just won’t be under a Disney banner. Another studio could partner with Walden Media to continue the epic fantasy series.
But will it even be worth the effort? With the Harry Potter film franchise about to wrap up, and lackluster adaptations of popular children’s books like The Tale of Despereaux and The Spiderwick Chronicles littering the marketplace, the appetite for such sugary fare may be peaking.
Merry Christmas, Narnia fans!
