Remember that sweet Super Mario Encyclopedia that Dark Horse announced it was bringing to the U.S. a while back?
Well — stop me if you’ve heard this one, folks — there’s a more expensive deluxe version planned as well if you want to up your game a little.
Like the standard edition, the Super Mario Encyclopedia Limited Edition includes content from all 17 Super Mario games spanning more than 30 years of the franchise’s history. This deluxe limited edition comes with an embossed slipcase designed to look like the iconic Super Mario question mark block.
Inside the slipcase, you’ll uncover one of four covers — Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, Super Star, or 1-Up Mushroom — each accentuated with shimmering holofoil.
According to Dark Horse, specific cover images cannot be requested or guaranteed, “But the mystery is part of the fun” — and each cover variant is printed in equal quantities.
The book also includes a ribbon bookmark, printed with the original vine design from Super Mario Bros., and a sky-and-cloud design printed along the pages’ edge.
Super Mario Encyclopedia Limited Edition goes on sale Oct. 23 for $79.99. It’s available for pre-order now.
The standard edition costs $39.99. (Since it only covers Mario-dom through Super Mario 3D World, it’s-a good enough for me!)
