Poisoned Pen’s Yuletide Universe gathers 8 local SF/F authors

Classic Dungeons & Dragons back in print! - Available now @ Dungeon Masters Guild

This coming Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m.,  The Poisoned Pen bookstore in Scottsdale is hosting a Yuletide Universe event with eight local authors who write in the science fiction and fantasy genres. It is a chance to meet and mingle with the authors and pick up some signed books for gifts or for your own reading.

Authors on hand will include:

Kevin Hearne, whose Iron Driud Chronicles series (Hounded, Hexed, and Hammered) debuted this year from Del Rey Books and has done quite well.  He’s currently working on the next novel in the series, Tricked, which will be out next April.  Part of the fun of this series, is it is set in the Valley, with many local spots being frequented by Atticus, including Rula Bula.

The UnwantedsLisa McMann – Lisa has a number of young adult/youg reader books out, with the latest, The Unwanteds, having been described as “The Hunger Games meets Harry Potter” by Kirkus Reviews.  She’s also published Cryer’s Cross, about a small town with some deadly secrets, and the Wake trilogy (Wade, Fade, and Gone) about a teenage girl who can go into other people’s dreams.

Trevor Munson – Hollywood screenwriter and co-creator of the Moonlight TV series has recently published his original novel that inspired Moonlight, Angel of Vengeance, about private eye and vampire Nick Angel.

Joseph Nassise – He’s the author of over a dozen novels, including the best selling Templar Chronicles, many Rogue Angel novels, and his latest novel is Eyes to See, the first novel in the Jeremiah Hunt urban fantasy from Tor.

Janni Lee Simner – Janni released several young adult novels recently, including the much acclaimed Bones of Faerie in 2009, which takes place in a post apocalyptic world following a devastating war between humanity and Faerie.  The second novel in the series, Faerie Winter, came out this year, and a third is in the works.  She’s also published Thief Eyes, an update of Icelandic mythology.

Michael A. Stackpole by Heather HillMichael A. Stackpole – Author of many bestselling Star Wars novels and the Battletech novels, Michael also has several popular fantasy series available including his latest, At the Queen’s Command. He’s also been quite active in making novels available as ebooks.

David Lee Summers – He’s an author, editor, and astronomer who has published five novels so far (including Owl Dance and Slayers),  edited several anthologies, and currently works at the Kitt Peak observatory near Tucson.

Sam Sykes – Sam made his debut in 2010 with the first book in The Aeons’ Gate series, Tome of the Undergates, and followed it up in 2011 with Black Halo. It is a fun and exciting fantasy series with an adult edge to it.  He’s currently working on the next book in the series, The Skybound Sea.
