The Hunger Games, a film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ young adult bestseller about postapocalyptic children fighting to the death to win food for their communities, isn’t due to hit theaters until March 23, 2012. But that’s not stopping Lionsgate from scheduling a release date for its sequel, Catching Fire — you can expect the second installment on the big screen Nov. 22, 2012.
“The magical thing about the Hunger Games trilogy is that the books have such a vastly broad appeal,” said Lionsgate’s Joe Drake in a statement. “The stories truly offer something for everyone, and the period around the Thanksgiving weekend is such an opportunity for families and friends to make an event of going to the movies.”
They must think it’s going to catch on or something.
