Bad news for Muggles:

Sci Fi Wire and The Associated Press are reporting that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which had been set to open Nov. 11, has been pushed back to July 17, 2009. The move is blamed on last year’s writers strike and Warner Bros. Pictures wanting a stronger summer slate.

The good news is this means the wait won’t be so bad between HBP and the first part of the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which has been split into two movies. (A Warner exec said in a statement that this delay will not affect the production of those films.)
