Genre author appearances at Scottsdale’s Poisoned Pen

Books, Events, Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Coming up this week are a couple of signings with authors you should get to know at The Poisoned Pen bookstore in Scottsdale:

First up on Tuesday, April 19, is Joe R. Lansdale at The Poisoned Pen bookstore.  He’ll do a talk and sign his latest novel, Devil Red, where “Hap Collins and Leonard Pine return in a red-hot, mayhem-fueled thriller to face a vampire cult, the Dixie Mafia, and the deadliest assassin they’ve ever encountered—Devil Red.”  It is the latest story in the “Hap Collins and Leonard Pine” mysteries series that started in 1990 with Savage Season.  Lansdale has written in many genres, and is most known for his horror fiction and this mystery series.  Taking a look at his bibliography you can see all of it including the three movies that have been adapted from his short stories, “Drive-In Date”, “The Job” and the cult classic “Bubba Ho-Tep.”

The next night — Wednesday, April 20 — fantasy author Daniel Abraham will be at The Poisoned Pen for his new novel, The Dragon’s Path, the first book in a new epic fantasy series, The Dagger and the Coin.  Abraham’s previous novel series, The Long Price Quartet, was his debut series.  Daniel has also collaborated with George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois on Hunter’s Run, as well as contributed to the Wild Cards series (including a recent comic series)  and adapted Martin’s Fevre Dream for a IDW Comics.  And if that’s not enough, he also publishes urban fantasy as M. L. N. Hanover, and space opera (in collaboration with Ty Franck) as James S. A. Corey.
