Wizards of the Coast won’t take part in Free RPG Day, opting instead to hold a Dungeons & Dragons Game Day event on the same day — June 15 — as a prelude to the next season of its D&D Encounters organized play program.
Even without the original roleplaying game, Free RPG Day will have robust offerings with the participation of publishers such as Paizo, Fantasy Flight Games, Chessex, Troll Lord Games and Goodman Games, among others, and they’re still taking publisher registration. The event is an industry awareness campaign that has much in common with the more well known Free Comic Book Day.
Among local gaming stores, Arizona participation has been tepid in recent years. But retailer registration begins next month, so there’s plenty of time to plead your case to the folks behind the counter of your favorite establishment.
You can count on us here at IOG to be participating in Free RPG Day this year as well.
IO is a class act store, go grab a free game and buy an indie game from them. That shop has a great selection of games and is truly a shinning example of what a modern game store should be.
