The Dr. Diabolic Traveling Roadshow & Fun-Time Variety Hour has its second run at the Phoenix Art Museum this Friday, August 3, and this time the not-so-good Doctor will be bringing the B’s – as in Becky B, burlesque, brains and a zombie boogie-brigade. It’s going to be more fun than you can shake a Cyclotrode at.
The August edition of the unconventional variety hour will include:
The Crimson Ghost – Witness some of the most overly-dramatic fight sequences ever captured on film in the second cliff-hanging episode of this 1940s film serial. A criminal mastermind, known as The Crimson Ghost, is out to steal the Cyclotrode; a device which can short-circuit all electrical current on the planet. Can he be stopped in time? Prepare to perch on the edge of your seat!
- Thrill The World – The Phoenix Valley: Thrill the World dancers will perform their signature Michael Jackson “Thriller’ routine while simultaneously frightening and delighting the crowd.
- Brain Eating Contest – Contestants will be hand-picked to compete against each other in a mad-dash to devour Jell-O cerebrum snacks. It’s a competitive eating contest that gives new meaning to phrase “brain-food.”
- Provocatease – This neo-burlesque Vaudevillian cabaret act will perform with saucy burlesque starlets and dancing dames in a routine created especially for the Dr. Diabolic show.
The show will be emceed by Dr. Diabolic and female illusionist and fellow cult-film host, the sassy Becky B. There will be a bar outside of the Phoenix Art Museum’s Whiteman Hall venue and attendees are encouraged to come early and enjoy a refreshing beverage before the show.
The fun starts at 7:00 p.m. and is open to ages 16 and over. Museum admission is complimentary, but tickets to the variety show event are $15 and will be available at the entrance to Whiteman Hall – or you can purchase you tickets online HERE.

And don’t miss the devious Doctor as he hosts the Bookmans‘ sponsored presentation of Buckaroo Banzai at the Nerdvanacon event on August 10 in downtown Mesa.
