Downtown Mesa’s monthly Second Friday block party will feature more than 80 artisans amid live performances, food, prizes and shopping — among them, computer fantasy artists Kyna Tek and Maynard Breese in a “Digital Winter” art show from 6 to 10 p.m. at Evermmore Nevermore, 127 W. Main St.
You can also try your own hand at creating art at OneOhOne Gallery’s participatory art show. The gallery, 101 W. Main St., will also host the designers and artists of the Metro light-rail extension planned for downtown by 2016. That will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
There will also be a “Nightmare Before Christmas” costume contest, new exhibit openings at the Mesa Arts Center, gingerbread house displays, knitted tree and reindeer “make-n-take” projects at the Fiber Factory, a downtown statue scavenger hunt, on-site gift wrapping and sleigh and pony rides for kids. Many local merchants will host food bank drop boxes, and visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations.
