Author Carrie Vaughn will be making a couple of stops in the Phoenix area on Wednesday, July 28, in support of her new fantasy novel Discord’s Apple. She’ll be visiting the Velma Teague branch of the Glendale Public Library at 2 p.m. and at 7 p.m. she’ll be at The Poisoned Pen in downtown Scottsdale.
Carrie is best known for her series of Kitty books, about Kitty Norville, who hosts a late night talk show about the supernatural and who also happens to be a werewolf. The latest Kitty book, Kitty Goes to War, came out at the end of June, so Carrie has two new novels in the stores. Carrie also published her first Young Adult novel, Voices of Dragons, earlier this year.  She’s also contributed stories to the recent anthologies Warriors (edited by George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois), Dark and Stormy Knights (edited by P.N. Elrod), and to some of the recent collections in the Wild Cards series edited by George Martin.
Carrie recently wrote a Big Idea piece for John Scalzi’s Whatever blog, where she talks about her inspiration for Discord’s Apple, which drew inspiration from Carrie’s real-life experiences, the Greek gods, King Arthur and 1980s G.I. Joe comics that results in a novel about family, storytelling, history, and war and how they get tangled together.
To learn more about Carrie, visit her website (where you can read the first chapter of Discord’s Apple), her blog, and her Facebook page.
Definitely try to catch Carrie at either location, you’l be glad you did!
