This Friday (11/9), Mesa’s 2nd Friday art walk event celebrates the fantasy old west and Victorian era with its fifth bi-annual Steampunk themed event, Steampunk Street V. The North side of downtown Mesa’s Main Street (between Robson & MacDonald) will be swarming with robust ray-guns, corseted cuties and gizmo technology from a bygone era that never was.
The popular Steampunk Street show is the Valley’s original and longest running Steampunk themed event and enthusiasts are encouraged to attend wearing their best fantasy Victorian era fashions to compete for prizes at the 2nd Friday costume contest at 8:00 p.m. in front of the OneOhOne Gallery [map].
While strolling through Steampunk Street and perusing its wide variety of artisans and vendors, be sure to get a picture with the world-renowned Steampunk Cowboys, the Brose Brothers; and listen for the distinct sound of the Jellied Brainz Steampunk band, who will have their very first CD available at this 2nd Friday event.
Whether you are a Steampunk veteran or just steam-curious, you’re certain to have a wonderful time at this 2nd Friday event, which will also feature additional artisans beyond the Steampunk themed section, live music and all the unique shopping and dining that downtown Mesa offers.
Steampunk enthusiasts are also invited and encouraged to attend Mesa’s Old West Days on Saturday (11/10) and to add some Steampunk color and flair to the event by coming in costume and mixing with Mesa’s annual cowboy celebration. It’ll be more fun than you can shake a time-wave disruptor rod at.
