‘Sherlock’ comes home to U.S. public television Oct. 24

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in Sherlock (BBC)Sherlock, a witty and modern take on the crime novels of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle produced by the BBC, will make its American debut 9 p.m. Arizona time Oct. 24 on PBS’ Masterpiece Mystery!

The series, starring Benedict Cumberbatch (left in photo) as Holmes and Martin Freeman (The Office UK, right) as Dr. Watson, kicks off with the episode “A Study in Pink,” in which Holmes must unravel the murder of a woman dressed all in pink found dead in an abandoned building.

The following Sunday, Halloween, sees the duo investigating when a man is found dead in his locked apartment in “The Blind Banker.” Nov. 7 will see the great detective matching wits with a mad bomber in “The Great Game.”
