Doctor Who

BBC America will celebrate the return of Doctor Who with a series of new specials and a live pre-show leading up to the season premiere, “Deep Breath,” on Aug. 23.

It all gets started the week before, with “Doctor Who: The Ultimate Companion” and “The Real History of Science Fiction: Time” on Aug. 16, followed by “Doctor Who: The Ultimate Time Lord” Aug. 18.

The live pre-show on Aug. 23 will be hosted by the Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick a half-hour before “Deep Breath.”

After the long-awaited new episode of Doctor Who officially introducing Peter Capaldi in the title role, BBC America will debut another series, “Intruders,” then shift back to the Who-niverse for “After Who Live,” featuring in-studio guests such as actor and writer Mark Gatiss as well as behind-the-scenes segments, according to Doctor Who News.

Those hoping to catch “Deep Breath” on the big screen should mark Aug. 5 on their calendars; that’s when details about the theatrical event are due to be released. Check our previous post for more of what we know so far.
