Tempe City Councilman Kolby Granville announced Thursday on Facebook that AMC Theatres will be renovating the cinema at Centerpoint on Mill Avenue.

The site used to house a Harkins Theatres location until that chain opened a new cinema at Tempe Marketplace. Since then the spot has seen life as a performance venue with MADCAP Theaters.

AMC expects to open in fall of this year, and plans include an “upgraded bar.”
