The horror game we all know and love, Five Nights at Freddy’s, now has its own spin-off game called FNaF World. This is an RPG-styled game with action and battles featuring our favorites characters such as Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny and even the infamous Purple Guy. The player gets to choose their team lineup and take them through an adventure of different zones and worlds, even through glitches, to restore peace in the Overworld.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a point-and-click PC horror game that has surged in popularity since the first game and was one of the most hyped games of 2015. Its setting is in the office of Freddy Fazbear’s, a fictional 1980s pizzeria. The most popular feature? The animatronics. These singing robots come to life as the player works the night shift inside the office of the pizzeria, and must be warded off. Failure to do has fatal consequences.
After FNaF World first released on Steam, the reviews from the fans were not what franchise creator Scott Cawthon had desired. Many fans and critics claimed that the game as a whole was rushed and incomplete. A review by The Escapist Magazine also posted on Metacritic said that the game “feels incomplete, but is steadily getting better as patches come out.” The fans and critics even went as far as to say the game was not what an RPG should be like. A fan that goes by KingofRock on Metacritic also claims that, “What makes a good RPG a good RPG is the fact that it takes you into another world and puts you into a story you are supposed to enjoy. FNaF World doesn’t do that.”
Scott Cawthon then released an update announcing that the game was to be removed from Steam, completely remodeled, and then released again on Game Jolt for free. On Feb. 8, the game was re-released on Game Jolt with an updated Overworld, 3-D models and 40 playable characters.
As of now, there is a second update coming to FNAF World; the release date is not yet confirmed. What will the second update have in store for the game? We aren’t sure. Perhaps there could be more playable characters that Scott Cawthon left out before, such as Nightmare Mangle. There could also be more zones or more endings to the game added. The possibilities are endless. There is now so much potential for the second update and the game as a whole, and the community looks forward to what the second update will have to offer for the game.
