The Smithsonian exhibit debuted in June at the Phoenix Art Museum and will continue showing until September 29. The display does a great job of not only showing the art works of various games, but also the evolution of the craft and how the styles have changed throughout the years.
Alongside the showcases of various consoles, the exhibit includes several video demos, developer and artist commentary on titles, and playable games such as Pac-Man and Flower for visitors to try out.
Perhaps the most intriguing part of the exhibit is the collection of pieces depicting iconic events in history and pop culture in pixel art style. There was also a demo for an independent game called The Night Journey on display as well. The museum has a slew of events relating to the exhibit slated for the next couple of months, so if you haven’t gotten the chance to see it, check out their site and plan on it!
