Fun Find Fridays is my series on the strange comic book related paraphernalia I’ve found at comic book shows, antique shops, swap meets, or buried in my closet.
My wife and I shoehorned a fun night of antiquing into this year’s sojourn to Glendale Glitters, where I saw this item not once, not twice, but thrice: the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man pencil sharpener! I passed on this mini mother puss bucket the first time we saw it, as it was priced at a whopping eight bucks, but the second time, I couldn’t pass it up for a mere three dollars. Busting deals makes me feel good! We saw Stay Puft yet one more time before the night was over, which, considering I’d never seen this in my collecting travels before, made me wonder if there was something strange in my neighborhood.
A Google search has revealed that this pencil sharpener was in a set of McDonald’s Happy Meal Ghostbusters school supplies. However, I presume these items were best used during summer, at Camp Waconda.
