Indie music stars and ‘IT’ stirs at Second Friday in downtown Mesa

Independent music takes center stage at this month’s Second Friday block party in downtown Mesa. IMP Fest includes Underground Cities, Todd Owens, Future Loves Past, Darkness Dear Boy, King MC, Tractor Pull Divas, Mahogany Birds and a drawing for a free guitar.

In addition, Evermore Nevermore will be introducing IT to the public. What is IT? Something dark and untamed has prowled the haunted Mesa shop’s cellar — and the shopkeeps have decided it needs to be socialized. But fear not: the store’s Zombie Elimination Division will be providing security.

Can music soothe the savage beast? If not, maybe seeing its own likeness will do the trick: A special print by local artist Shelby Robertson will be on sale at Evermore Nevermore.

In other Second Friday the 13th (eek!) goings-on, there’s apparently a “Villain Toy Show” at Mesa’s Rusted Nail Gallery. What do you guys know about this place? Lightning Octopus calls it “steampunky” but I haven’t made it by there yet.
