R is for R.I.P. – Ray Bradbury has died

Fahrenheit 451The Associated Press is reporting this morning that sci-fi grand master Ray Bradbury has died. He was 91.

The author of Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles and too many sci-fi/fantasy/horror/mystery/morality tales to name here has been influential beyond words. He took the things that terrified and disgusted him about human nature and turned them into definitive cautionary tales that crossed genre lines and became the lessons that teachers and parents will be passing down for generations to come, possibly forever.

Bradbury’s writing took many varied forms — novels and short stories (a format he simply owned), plays, television shows and movies — and continued into his final days long after his body began betraying him.

Farewell, sir — and thank you.
