An independent giant-monster movie shot in the East Valley will make its big-screen debut Friday at MADCAP Theaters in Tempe.
Sacrifice will premiere with two showings, 7 and 9 p.m., with an ongoing reception before and during the screenings, where you can meet the cast and crew and get posters signed. Tickets cost $5 through Brown Paper Tickets.
MADCAP is located at 730 S. Mill Ave. in Tempe. A portion of proceeds from drink sales at the reception will be donated to the Arizona literary nonprofit group Anthology Inc.
Here’s a description from the film’s website:
Sacrifice is the story of choices. Woven into the story are the impact of the choices we make, be they 500 years ago or today. The story follows the discovery of a potential weapon of mass destruction in southern Arizona, and the pursuit of answers by a young couple and the military.
What they find is a threat that is (literally and figuratively) larger than all of them as they set loose a giant monster, which subsequently seeks to destroy civilization as we know it.
Scenes in Sacrifice were shot in downtown Mesa at Queen’s Pizzeria and Evermore Nevermore, a clothing and collectibles shop with a decidedly steampunk/sci-fi vibe.
